The Tasker Milward School Council is made up of Year Councils and a whole school Council. Students in Key Stage Four and Key Stage Five represent the school at a County wide Youth Council called ‘Gennex’, meeting at County Hall. This liaises with the Youth Assembly for Wales called ‘Funky Dragon’ which gives students a voice about issues facing young people across the country.
All students have the opportunity to stand for election to the Year Council in each Year Group. Elections are held at the beginning of September and two members of each form are chosen to represent their form. The Year Councils meet at least every half term with their Head of Year. Agenda items are determined by the students themselves who conduct their own meetings. Form representatives feed back to their forms on a regular basis and ask for agenda items to bring to meetings.
The Whole School Council meets with Mr Cecil, Assistant Headteacher, every term to discuss issues raised by the Year Councils. Each Year Council chooses two representatives to go forward onto the Whole School Council; which is involved in many decision making processes with in the school, including reporting to every meeting of the Governing Body and the appointment of new staff.
